From Runway to Prom

The first look is from the Betsey Johnson Spring 2010 show. I love the smears of red glitter on the eyes and lips. This look would be perfectly pulled off at a Valentines Day party or, of course, PROM!!! This look is very played up for the Betsey show, but it could be easily toned down but applying a natural lip color, rather than the vampy one used in the show.

These next looks are all about the hair and comes from the Badgely Mischka Spring 2010 show. Their inspection? The futuristic Jetsons meets the red carpet. They have a nice mix between sky-high poofs and sleek knots. You are bound to find som inspiration from this video.

Prom Dress Rugby at UCLA

Ok so I know this video technically doesn't have anything to do with Prom, but it does have something to do with prom dresses. I read the title and I laughed out loud. I now think it would be fun to try and do all sorts of sport in a prom dress...perhaps I will actually will.

Back when i went to prom, eyelash extensions were not even an options. My girlfriends and i would always buy false lashes for prom, down at the local convenient store, the ones you had to apply yourself. Well the times have changed, now you can eye lash extensions. I always loved the way false lashes would make me feel, it gave me a boost of confidences and drew attention to my face. Permanent eyelash extensions differ from false eyelashes in several ways. First, eyelash extensions are more natural looking than a strip of false eyelashes. Extensions are made from a synthetic hair, which tapers at the end like natural lashes and is applied one eyelash at a time and they add length to the lashes, much like hair extensions. Eyelash extensions are permanent, but they do need to be reapplied in a touch up, every two weeks, as your real lashes fall out naturally every 10 – 12 days.
There are several benefits to permanent eyelash extensions. They look natural and give you fuller, thicker lashes. You can choose the length and the color of the lashes you want. Mascara is not needed, and neither is expensive eye makeup remover to dissolve the mascara. Since the lashes are permanent, they last through tears, sweat, showering, sleeping, and the sun.

The application process is relatively simple and needs to be done by a qualified beautician. The beautician will clean your eyelids and lashes, ensuring they are free of oil, makeup, and dirt. She will then put a special adhesive on the bottom of an extension and adhere it to the top of your natural lash. The extension will bond to the lash in about 10 seconds. This is done one lash at a time, with tweezers, so it will be time consuming. On average, about 30 to 80 lashes are used per eye, and the procedure can take around 2 hours. Afterwards, you will need to avoid water for about 2 hours, but then the lashes are permanent and can be enjoyed through any activity, even swimming!

Girls Go to Prom Dressed as Barbie Dolls

When it comes to prom we all get a little nervous before the big night. I mean, how can we not get nervous, everybody expects us to look "perfect" on prom. We all want to have the perfect prom dress, make-up and hairstyle. It's your night to shine and of course we all want to be in the spotlight. That where this article comes in hand, the artistic flare two British 16-year-olds brought to their prom. How cool is that? Dressing up as barbie doll for prom. I would never think of doing something like this for my prom, maybe Halloween. I love how these girls took creativity to the next level. This will go down in their high school history and be talked about for for years to come. Come on now, who is going to forget seeing two girls dressed up as barbie dolls at their high school prom, they're not. Great prom idea girls!

Sammy Burns and Megan Barton had the admirable impulse to do something unique for their prom. But I can’t say I’m thrilled with the concept that Sammy’s mother devised. “When Sammy was little she loved Barbie dolls and I thought they could go in boxes as Barbie dolls,” the 44-year-old business manager said.

The whole Burns family got involved in making the boxes, which took two weeks to complete. Sammy and Megan were then wheeled to the prom by family members dressed as delivery boys. The slow, hot walk took nearly 40 minutes.

In true Barbie form, the girls put looks before comfort to brave the claustrophobic boxes: “It was really hot and a little scary at first,” Sammy said. “But we soon got used to it and we kept smiling for everyone while they took pictures of us.”
